Nokia has announced a new feature phone, the Nokia 515, with a classic design and premium feel. Amidst the hustle of high-end Lumia and Asha smartphones, the Finnish manufacturer seems to have realised the need for good feature phones. And as if dual-SIM Asha smartphones were not enough, the company claims that this model is suitable for use "as a companion to your smartphone".
The classic design of the phone uses an anodised, sandblasted aluminium body with a new hardened polycarbonate resin for the keypad. The phone has a 2.4" display with a pixel dimensions of 320 x 240 and is protected by Gorilla Glass 2. The Nokia 515's memory can be expanded by up to 32 GB via a microSD card, which is necessary considering the paltry internal storage of just 256 MB. The 5 mp rear snapper comes with an LED flash and a few features such as 100-degrees Panorama shot and voice-guided self-portrait. Connectivity features include 3.5G HSDPA and Bluetooth 3.0. The device is expected to have a 38 days standby time and a talk time of up to 10.4 hours.
Nokia 515 will be available in two version: single-SIM and Easy Swap Dual-SIM, with colour choice of either Black or White. The phone is expected to start shipping from the third quarter of 2013 with a price tag of about EUR 115 (approx Rs 10,000). The India price is not know yet, but if it is anything close to its European pricing, it will have a tough time moving numbers here. Unless of course, if it looks absolutely stunning. Some key specification of the Nokia 515 are as follows:
- 2.4" QVGA LCD display with Gorilla Glass 2
- 3.5G HSDPA - GSM 850/900/1800/1900 WCDMA 900/2100

- 5 MP camera with LED flash
- Measures 4.4" x 1.8" x 0.4" and weighs 101.1 grams
