The highly-anticipated Firefox OS smartphones have finally been launched. As of now, there are two brands offering handsets running the Firefox open-source mobile operating system. These devices, ZTE Open and Alcatel One Touch Mini, are both entry-level smartphones. Although the Firefox smartphones haven't yet been launched in India, the ZTE Open has a price tag of €69 (approx Rs 5000) in Spain.
Apart from being built on the open-source Linux platform, Mozilla's mobile operating system offers support for HTML5. Considering how developers will not have to pay for the SDKs to build apps for the platform (unlike Apple's iOS), so you can expect a fairly large quantity of apps in the future.
