Bangalore: Ben Biron, an Israeli army veteran has invented the world's first Smartphone breathalyzer, Alcohoot, which enables you to measure your blood alcohol concentration on your iPhone, iPad or Android, reports Huffington Post.
To make it more interesting, this cool sleek device comes along with an app that charts blood-alcohol levels and helps its drunk users to find nearby taxis and post-bar eateries.
It uses the same fuel sensors found in police-grade breathalyzers. However, the Biron’s device costs only $75 as compared to the models used by law enforcement which retail for around $800.
Biron and his co-founder, Jonathan Ofir, got the idea after they witnessed the problem in 2010 during their time in the Israel Defense Force. A sign posted at the army base's entrance listed drunk driving as a major cause of death among soldiers. He began formulating the idea for Alcohoot after he saw similar behavior after enrolling in Wingate University.
According to Biron, "Moderate drinkers have more fun, you stay out later, you get the girl and that's the whole idea," he added. "Alcohoot lets people use data to drive their drinking decisions rather than just relying on their instincts."
As per Alcohoot’s portal the first batch ships at September 2013 and is expected to officially hit the market in October. However, the portal have already started pre-selling them, where more than 500 buyers have already purchased the device.
